Get a Jump Start on Allergy Season

Get a Jump Start on Allergy Season

by Dr. Shuya Wu, Lexington Clinic Allergy/Asthma

Spring is officially here! Warmer temperatures have trees and flowers around the Bluegrass blooming and that means seasonal allergies will soon begin to take their toll.

There are a few ways you can get ahead of the spring allergy season and fight those symptoms before they start:

  • Know what triggers your allergies
  • Start your allergy medications now
  • Stay consistent with your medications
  • Nasal washes can be helpful
  • Monitor pollen counts
  • Keep windows closed

If you spend time outside, it’s also a good idea to change your clothes when you come inside to avoid bringing pollen into your house.

There are several options when it comes to treating your seasonal allergies including over the counter, prescription and immunotherapy (allergy shots) treatments. To learn more about your options, you can schedule an appointment with a Lexington Clinic allergist by calling (859) 258-5244 or visit us at LexingtonClinic.com/allergy.
