DAK & Lexington Clinic: A New Dermatology Era

Dermatology Associates of Kentucky was first established in 1951 by Dr. Ullin Leavell and was located on Market Street in downtown Lexington. Dr. Leavell had a deep appreciation for medical education. He was involved in the early formation of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and served on the UK Medical Faculty from 1961-1971. He eventually moved his practice to a house on Limestone so he could teach and see patients more readily. In 1972, Dr. Ira Mersack joined Dr. Leavell, and the practice became known as Leavell & Mersack. Over time, new providers joined the practice, and in 1988, the practice became known as Dermatology Associates of Kentucky.

Today, the tradition of clinical excellence continues. Dermatology Associates of Kentucky is comprised of eight physicians, five providers, and offers four locations across the Bluegrass. All of our providers are board certified, licensed healthcare professionals, so you can rest assured that you will receive the best treatment available. If you’re interested in receiving an evaluation from one of our highly trained providers, please contact us to schedule an appointment.

As of November 1, 2023, Dermatology Associates of Kentucky (DAK) and Lexington Clinic have partnered up to become a leading dermatology group practice in Central Kentucky.

The newly combined DAK and Lexington Clinic Dermatology group now includes 10 board-certified dermatologists and 10 providers who practice in five locations across the Bluegrass, mainly Lexington, Frankfort, Mount Sterling and Somerset.
